ßÙßÇÂþ» Downtown Singers and Orchestra (Non-profit)
P.O. Box 1143 | ßÙßÇÂþ», NY 13902-1143
The ßÙßÇÂþ» Downtown Singers is a non-profit community chorus whose mission is to provide live performances of master choral works to NY State southern tier and PA State northern tier audiences at little or no cost. Chorus membership is open to all without regard to musical ability; there is no audition. While the group is best known for its signature annual performances of Handel's Messiah each December, there is also an annual Spring Concert (end of May/beginning of June) that provides opportunity to perform a wide variety of challenging choral works, all in company with orchestra and professional soloists. The Downtown Singers also support a variety of community choral activities such as the annual CHOW community hunger outreach benefit, ßÙßÇÂþ» First Friday and the NY State Firechiefs annual memorial service. Choir membership varies between 150 and 185 annually.
