Zachary Lee
Assistant Chief of Police and Executive Director of Emergency Management, Stony Brook University
Chief Lee began his career in law enforcement in 2009 as a police officer at Stony Brook University and then transferred to the Farmingdale State College Police Department in 2014 where he was promoted to Lieutenant. While at Farmingdale, Chief Lee led the college's Emergency Management program until 2021 when he transferred back to Stony Brook as the Lieutenant in charge of the Detective Division. Later that year, he was promoted to Inspector of Investigations and Professional Standards where he oversaw all aspects of criminal investigations and the Internal Affairs functions of the police department. In November 2022, he was assigned as the Inspector of Patrol and Emergency Management Operations, a position that he held until his promotion to Assistant Chief of Patrol and Executive Director of Emergency Management. As Assistant Chief of Patrol, he oversees 2 Inspectors, 9 Lieutenants, 56 Police Officers, and 9 Dispatchers. As Executive Director of Emergency Management he oversees one Director of Emergency Management, Training and Outreach, one Associate Director of EMS, Clinical Operations and Education, and one Business Continuity Analyst. He holds both a Bachelor of Science in Police Studies from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Emergency Management from the University of Maryland.
