First-Year Orientation

Summer 2025

The information below is for our newly admitted, first-year students, who will be enrolled for Fall 2025. 

Join us for Summer Orientation! We have some great ways for you to get acquainted with ßÙßÇÂþ»­ before you arrive in the fall. Your Orientation experience will encompass many aspects including your in-person Orientation session.

What is the Orientation 2025 Experience?

Starting in early May, you will begin to gain access to the following:

  • New Student Checklist: A convenient list of important to-do’s meant to guide you through your summer, located on . Make sure to complete all the items on the checklist!
  • BUZZ Emails: Weekly emails loaded with resources and opportunities to take advantage of here at ßÙßÇÂþ»­. These are sent by Admissions, so keep an eye out in your email!
  • Orientation Session: An in-person, overnight session where you will learn about campus, meet other new students, and receive information about academic advising and course registration. See dates below.
  • Virtual Academic Advising Appointment: At your Orientation session, you will meet with your academic adivising office to discuss important dates and need-to-knows related to course registration. Note: there will be a series of online videos and digitial documents designed to aid in your course selection process available through your Orientation Checklist available once you register for Orientation. You must complete these modules before your Orientation session.
  • New Student Move-In and Welcome Program: Our new students will move into the residence halls early and participate in welcome programming. More information will be sent out about move-in as we get closer to the summer. 

Sign up for an Orientation Session

All newly admitted students who have paid their admission deposit will have access to the New Student Checklist beginning in early May. Students will receive an email when our registration system is available. The first item to complete is to register for an Orientation session. These dates are offered throughout the months of June and July and are specific to the school to which you were admitted. Through our system you can sign up for a session and register any family members you wish to join us for the family program.

If you do not see the New Student Checklist when you log into myßÙßÇÂþ»­ by May 31, contact our office so we may assist you either over the phone (607-777-6393) or through email (orientation@binghamton.edu). If you have any trouble registering for Orientation, contact our office at the phone number above for assistance.

Summer 2025 Dates

All first-year Orientation sessions take place in-person over the course of two days and students will be housed in one of ßÙßÇÂþ»­'s residence halls for the night of Orientation. Sessions will correspond to a student's academic college (Harpur College of Arts and Sciences, Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science, College of Community and Public Affairs, Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences and School of Management).

We strongly encourage students to attend an Orientation session with us. You will have the opportunity to meet an Orientation Advisor who is a current student as well as some of your future classmates. If you cannot attend one of the dates below, you must contact New Student Programs to discuss your options (607-777-6393).

Orientation Session Information

ßÙßÇÂþ»­ Orientation

The Orientation program has many sessions over two days designed specifically to answer any questions you may have as ßÙßÇÂþ»­â€™s newest community members. We hope you’ll meet other students, share experiences, learn more about your new home away from home and, most of all, relax and have fun!

In order to make the most of your time at Orientation, plan on attending all sessions. The program begins with check-in at 8:30AM on the first day and concludes late morning on the second day around 12PM. All students will receive a detailed Orientation schedule upon checking in. Below are some highlights of the program.

Academic Advising and Course Registration

Before You Arrive at Orientation

As an incoming student you will be pre-registered for your fall 2025 classes pending the completion of online documents related to course registration. These digital documents are designed to aid in your academic success and to assist in developing your first-semester college schedule. Visit your Orientation Checklist after you register for an Orientation session to review this information and complete the necessary steps prior to your Orientation session which may include a course preference form.

During and After Orientation

During Orientation, you will meet with your Academic Advising office to discuss important dates and essential information related to course registration. Once you attend your Orientation session you will make an academic advising appointment to review your schedule and make any changes.


EOP First-Year Students

First-year students admitted to the EOP program will not attend Orientation through New Student Programs. They will attend events and the ßÙßÇÂþ»­ Enrichment Summer Program (BEP) through the EOP office.

In order to attend ßÙßÇÂþ»­ in the fall, students must attend one free Orientation specifically for new EOP First-year students, which will be held at  ßÙßÇÂþ»­ University.

Students will need to select the date that they plan to attend. Transportation to the EOP Orientation at ßÙßÇÂþ»­ is provided by EOP to students living in the NYC area. There is no charge to register for the EOP Orientation and Parent/Guardian Meeting. Students must be present for the entire event.
