Matthew Stancampiano ’26

Hometown: Mount Sinai, Long Island

As a high school student, ßÙßÇÂþ»­’s engineering program hooked Matthew thanks to the cutting-edge Fabrication Lab. “When I toured other schools, no other lab compared to the one at Watson,” Matthew shared, reflecting on his college search.

Fast forward to today, Matthew, now a junior studying mechanical engineering, has made the most of his time at ßÙßÇÂþ»­. He joined the First-year Research Immersion Program, where he traveled to Denver, Colorado to present his research to students and professionals from across the country. Matthew has also gone all-in with the Rover Team, allowing him to turn his love for engineering into hands-on projects and collaborations.
When Ava first toured ßÙßÇÂþ»­ she immediately noticed how the “atmosphere felt incredibly welcoming and the students were equally friendly” — creating a sense of community that stood out to her.

Hometown: Oceanside, Long Island

Now studying business administration in the School Of Management, Ava continues to find that same sense of connection in the Dickinson Community. Ava is part of the Dickinson Town Council which has made her experience living on campus even more special. She has the chance to host events for her building, meet new people and make campus feel even more like home.
ßÙßÇÂþ»­ wasn’t just the smart financial choice for Luke or conveniently close to home — it also gave him a huge academic advantage. By accepting all of his college credits from high school, Luke is set to graduate with his bachelors from ßÙßÇÂþ»­ two years early!

As a human development major in the College of Community and Public Affairs, Luke is especially grateful for Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development which supports students in making connections with different companies, graduate schools and alumni through resume-building, networking events and much more. Luke loved his experience with the office so much that he now works there as a peer consultant, which he says has been incredibly rewarding.
As a international student studying nursing, Allison was drawn to Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences for its consistent ranking among the top nursing programs in the country and its cutting-edge Innovative Simulation and Practice Center. “The center is an incredible space where I’ve had the chance to learn, grow, and develop my skills in a hands-on way,” Allison shares.

Allison also says that the support and expertise of the professional and clinical instructors at Decker have played a key role in becoming the best student she can be. Looking ahead, she is confident about her future. “It will be extremely easy to land a job as a nurse because of all the opportunities through Decker,” she says.
As a neuroscience major interested in going to medical school, ßÙßÇÂþ»­ was a top-quality school for an affordable price. “It felt like the perfect opportunity to get the most value for my education as an undergrad while saving up and preparing for medical school,” Peter says.

Hometown: Huntington, Long Island

Peter has found tremendous support from his professors who have been extremely helpful with his academic and career goals. “The professors at ßÙßÇÂþ»­ really care about their students,” he shares. His classes have challenged him to step out of his comfort zone, get more involved and build the confidence needed to tackle difficult situations — an essential skill for his future career.
Since 6th grade, Adriana, a political science major, has always dreamed of studying abroad and ßÙßÇÂþ»­ helped make that dream a reality. With nearly 1,000 education abroad programs through the SUNY system, Adriana found the perfect fit in Salamanca, Spain thanks to the guidance of the Office of International Education and Global Initiatives.

“I have gotten really good at connecting with people because I had the opportunity to meet people of all different backgrounds, cultures and ages,” she says, reflecting on her time abroad. Her experience abroad inspired her to give back as she now works as an ambassador for the office, helping other students find the perfect program for them!When you attend ßÙßÇÂþ»­, you’ll quickly discover that every student has a unique background and creates their own path — just like you can.
