named among ‘Best Colleges in the U.S.’ by Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal has ranked the #26 public university on its list of the , based on factors such as student outcomes, learning environment and diversity.

is ranked the #26 public and #82 overall in the Wall Street Journal’s annual list of the best colleges in the nation, above institutions like Syracuse University, NYU, and Johns Hopkins University.

“ is not only a fantastic learning environment with great facilities and a diverse student body – we set students up for success,” said President Harvey Stenger. “It’s our job to prepare graduates for the real world, and this ranking shows that a education is a worthy investment in the future.”

The Wall Street Journal worked with data scientists at Statista, an online platform specialized in data gathering and visualization, to conduct one of the largest-ever surveys of U.S. students. Unlike other rankings, the list focuses on outcomes, emphasizing how much each college improves its students’ chances of graduating on time, and how much it boosts their salaries after they graduate.

In addition to outcomes, the ranking factored in student experiences, including their perceptions of learning opportunities, career preparation, dining halls and sports facilities, and diversity.

“This is fantastic news and it shows that is fulfilling its purpose – to provide students with a great education that sends them on a positive career path,” said Provost Donald Hall.

is the top-ranked SUNY school on the list, ranking above University at Albany (#114), University at Buffalo (#121) and Stony Brook (#149).
