While education was not something that came easy or was particularly valued by either one of my parents, even from a very young age I came to understand that education provided a sense of personal fulfillment. The hardest part of my journey as a first gen college student was lacking the foundational support to navigate systems and processes, from applying for FASFA, to mentally and emotionally preparing and supporting me on the journey, I remember feeling very alone and very confused. I spent 8 years teaching at the high school level before joining ßÙßÇÂþ» and I always felt a sense of duty to connect with, support, and provide clarity to others preparing to be first gen college students. Getting accepted to the University is the first step! There is still a long way to go before graduation. In my free time I enjoy hiking, reading, baking, and cooking large meals for my friends.
