Community-engaged learning

Participating in community-engaged learning helps you become an active, engaged citizen who makes a difference in your community, no matter where you are. It's a great way to apply academic work outside of the classroom to address real-world challenges and issues faced by your neighbors.

The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) at ßÙßÇÂþ» provides opportunities to connect with the surrounding community through credit-based, community-engaged learning courses; non-partisan voter registration, education and advocacy programming; and short- and long-term volunteer opportunities.

You'll learn how to be flexible and overcome unexpected barriers and missteps that aren't always obvious in the classroom. Working with diverse communities and individuals develops tolerance, understanding and critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, communication and teamwork skills. These outcomes mean you'll be better prepared for success in the workplace and as citizens engaging in civic life.
