Program Overview
The Health and Wellness Studies minor provides a broad foundation in the concepts of health promotion and wellness education to encourage healthy living both personally and professionally. Students evaluate scientific literature and research related to health, wellness and disease prevention. Students can apply the knowledge they gain to assessing, planning, motivating and implementing health-promoting behaviors and cultivate lifelong wellness to diverse populations.

Internships, Research Opportunities and More
Students interested in health and wellness have the opportunity to apply their academic coursework in professional working environments through the Nutrition and Fitness Peer Education Service-Learning Internship, which can be taken for 2, 3 or 4 credits that count for the HWS minor. A weekly seminar course covers nutrition and fitness topics, as well as the development of professional skills. Students also participate in service-learning projects, peer education, outreach to the greater ßÙßÇÂþ» community and research.
