Student Organizations

Student associations enable Decker nursing students to have fun while enhancing their academic experience, developing broad skill sets and building professional networks.

Sigma Theta Tau International

, the international honor society of nursing, recognizes superior academic achievement, academic integrity, professional leadership potential and/or marked achievement in nursing. Zeta Iota is the local chapter of the organization. Eligibility for induction into Sigma Theta Tau is by invitation; inductions are held during the academic year. An invitation to become a member of the nursing honor society is a distinct honor and a privilege.

Nursing Student Association/NSA

The is a platform for collaboration and communication among members of ßÙßÇÂþ»­'s nursing community. The group provides mentorship for undergraduate and prospective students and promotes professional development through job and internship sessions that educate developing nurses on career advancement. The NSA also encourages student involvement in the local area; members regularly participate in community health promotion and prevention events. 

Mary E. Mahoney Nursing Support Group

Mary E. Mahoney was the first African American woman to complete nurse's training in the U.S., one of the first Black members of the American Nurses Association and an activist for civil and women's rights. To honor this nursing pioneer, ßÙßÇÂþ»­'s helps students from underrepresented populations pursue a career in nursing. MEM pairs new students with experienced advisors and mentors who help them through nursing school. Members also participate in civic engagement projects.
