ßÙßÇÂþ» offers several unique orientation programs for new graduate students, each carefully designed to assist and guide your transition to a member of our university community. ßÙßÇÂþ» orientation is a campus-wide, collaborative effort. Please see below for important information regarding orientation programs and scheduling.
New Graduate Student Orientation (fall only)
The Graduate School offers an exciting program where new graduate students will receive important information and have the opportunity to meet with other new students, faculty and members of the university community.
The fall 2024 New Graduate Student Orientation was held on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024. While it is strongly recommended that all new graduate students attend this program, it is required for all new Teaching Assistants (TA) and Graduate Assistants (GA).

Academic Department Orientation (fall)
Most academic departments offer orientation events in the fall for new graduate students within their academic programs. Dates, times and locations will vary by program and you will receive a communication from your department. If offered, it is strongly recommended for all new graduate students to attend their department's program.
Academic Department Orientation (spring)
Some academic departments offer orientation events in the spring for new graduate students within their academic programs. If your first semester of study is in the spring, please contact the Graduate Secretary of your academic department directly for information regarding spring orientation. If offered, it is strongly recommended for all new graduate students to attend their department's program.
New International Graduate Student Orientation (fall and spring)
The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) hosts New International Graduate Student Orientation prior to the fall and spring semesters. It is required for all new international graduate students to attend this program.
International Student Orientation for fall 2024 will include pre-recorded videos and synchronous virtual programs. You will receive a communication from ISSS with more details as they become available.
