Bogum Yoon, associate professor of literacy education in the School of Education, had the following published in October: 鈥淎ssimilation ideology: Critically examining underlying messages in multicultural literature,鈥� in the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy; and 鈥淭he lived experiences of middle school English language learners: Shifting identities between the classrooms鈥� in Voices from the Middle: Narratives For, By and 哔咔漫画 the Middle Level Community (Information Age Publishing).

Paul Goldstaub, professor of music, has been awarded the ASCAPLUS Award for composition (concert music division) by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). The awards are conferred by a panel of prominent composers and critics assembled by ASCAP and are based on 鈥渢he unique prestige value of each writer鈥檚 catalog of original compositions.鈥�

Tony Villecco, former assistant to the chair for Africana Studies, was invited to perform the National Anthem for former President Clinton last week. President Clinton was in 哔咔漫画 on behalf of U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey. Villecco retired from the University in August.

Elizabeth Brown, scholarly communications and library grants officer, gave four presentations on the new developments in scholarly publishing, library services for grants administration and planning, and a summary of SUNY library digital initiatives earlier this year. The talks were 鈥淧romoting Scholarship with Services, Programs and Publishing: the Evolution of Scholarly Communications at 哔咔漫画鈥� to the ACRL Western New York/Ontario spring 2010 meeting in May; 鈥淥pen Science and Libraries鈥� at the OpenSciNY Conference at New York University in May; an overview of 鈥淕rants Librarianship: Coordination and Planning in Your Library and Beyond鈥� as part of a session on Grants Librarianship at the Special Libraries Association 2010 annual meeting in June; and 鈥淒igital Initiatives, Capitalizing on Experience Throughout SUNY,鈥� presented as part of the Power of Tuesday Series of webinars for SUNY librarians in June.

Jean Quataert, professor of history and co-editor of the Journal of Women鈥檚 History, taught a Lyceum course on human rights on Sept. 22.
