Connect to eduroam with Handheld Devices

Note: If you are connected to another BU wireless network, first highlight that network and select Forget the Network.

Chromebook uses the same basic settings as Android

  1. Go to Settings and select Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi service must be set to On
  2. Select the wireless network eduroam
  3. Enter the options required by the Android device as follows. You may need to scroll down to see all options:
    • Network: eduroam
    • Security: 802.1x Enterprise or 802.1x EAP
    • EAP Method: PEAP
    • Phase 2 authentication (if shown): MSCHAPV2 (note: not MSCHAP)
    • CA certificate: unspecified or Don’t validate (note: Android 10 and up will need to run JoinNow and the eduroam certificate must be selected.)
    • Domain (if shown): binghamton.edu
    • Anonymous identity: leave blank
    • Wireless password: ßÙßÇÂþ»­ Computer Accounts password
  4. Select Connect

iPhone, iPad, and other Apple iOS devices

Note: If you are connected to another BU wireless network first highlight that network and select Forget the Network.

  1. Go to Settings and select Wi-Fi
  2. Select Other in Wi-Fi Networks
  3. In Other Network:
    • Enter eduroam for Name
    • Select WPA2 Enterprise in Security
  4.  Select Other Network near the top of the screen
  5. Enter your ßÙßÇÂþ»­ Computer Account username@binghamton.edu and password
  6. Select Join
  7. Accept the certificate.

Use the following general specifications if the instructions for your particular device are not available:

  1. Wireless network standards: 802.11 g/n
  2. Protocol type: 802.1x
  3. Network name: eduroam
  4. Security standard: WPA2 Enterprise or WPA2
  5. Protocol & authentication: EAP/PEAP with MSChapV2 [or EAP-TTLS with PAP]
  6. Encryption: AES (WPA2) [or TKIP (WPA2 Enterprise)]
  7. Assigning IP addresses: DHCP
  8. Other identity: blank
  9. ßÙßÇÂþ»­ Computer Account (PODS) userid@binghamton.edu and password.
