The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) supports the university’s strategic planning and decision making by providing timely and accurate data and analysis. OIR is also the official source of objective and reliable institutional data.
As part of our mission to support the University’s mission through the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of institutional data, the Office of Institutional Research makes portions of this data available to the university and public. This data is refreshed once a year after it has been reported to SUNY in late Fall.
- Undergraduate Admissions data includes the number of applications received, accepted, and enrolled, average high school GPA and average SAT scores of Freshman and Transfer students. The Excel download will provide 10 years of detail in a multi-tabbed spreadsheet with the data broken down by college.

- Degree Programs is a current list of all active programs at BU by major code, updated regularly as programs are added or deactivated. An Inactive status means a major code is no longer accepting new students and is in the process of being deprecated. Per Bulletin guidelines, undergraduate students have 10 years to complete their program, hence there may still be students working toward completing the program in an inactive major code. Programs that have been completely deactivated at SUNY and NYSED will not appear in this list.

The Excel download will provide 10 years of detail in a multi-tabbed spreadsheet that includes the data broken down by school and department, gender, ethnicity, and each degree type (Baccalaureate, Certificate, Masters, Doctoral).

- Common Data Sets. The Common Data Set (CDS) was developed through collaboration among publishers of college guides, colleges and universities, representatives of higher education organizations, high school counselors and the National Center for Education Statistics. Many of the items and definitions in the Common Data Set are being used on the surveys of several major publishers. The goal of CDS is to improve the comparability of data reported by colleges and universities, and to ease each institution's burden by asking questions in a standardized way on numerous surveys.
- The ODS Enrollment Snapshot, conducted weekly during the Fall and Spring semesters spanning Day 1 to Day 45, serves as an informal tracking report. It's essential to note that this snapshot is not an official enrollment report.
